This story had all my favorites, romance, a wounded hero, a ghost and a mystery! This is a very good, engaging, and heart warming read. Set in 1968 the reference to the social upheaval of the period and tradegy of the Vietnam war were well crafted and touching.
I was predisposed to like this story because it was set in a time that's dear to my heart. My thanks to Beth Trissel for making me remember that there was more to the Vietnam era than strife. Some of it was just fun. I loved this story.
I expected a sweet romantic Christmas read, and this is *exactly* what I received -- and more! Loved the paranormal element, the parallels between the past hero/heroine and present day Eric and Bailey, the lush setting and descriptive history of the house and the region. Even the "hip" dialogue from the 1968 era reminded me of that time. I totally recommend this book.
A wonderful holiday read. I found myself swept up in the magic of Trissel's writing, pulled back in time to another era. The setting was dazzling, the characters compelling, and the romance sweetly magical. Well done!
This lovely story that reads like a throw-back in time, engaged me early on. Though more a period piece set in the 1960s, it struck me as an historical much of the time. Romantic prose and the heavy influence of the historical aspect made for a tender and sweet romance. Bailey and Eric discover there is much more to their acquaintance than meets the eye! I loved the paranormal aspect, and the twist where the ghost actually helps Bailey out instead of her thinking she needed to help him was great.

I love this author's style of writing. She's very descriptive. The story moves along quickly. I think there could have been just a little more done near the ending, wrapping up some of the 'loose ends' but it was a very good read for me. Whether you believe in 'time travel' or 'changing places' or not, the book seems believable. I enjoyed it and just bought the 4th book in the series.
This was such a beautiful story! There was so much packed into this very special Christmas Story your heart will melt. Eric returns home after being wounded in the Vietnam War and Bailey was exiled as she put it. The two of them come back to Maple Hall for Christmas. The Ghosts of Christmas past send Bailey on a quest.
This was my first book by Beth Trissel, and I must admit, I enjoyed listening to it immensely. The story took me to another time and place as I was transported back in time to two different eras in our Southern history. The rich characters and terrific dialogue kept me engaged, throughout. The narrator, Tom Jordan, did a wonderful job bringing the story to life. His clear, smooth voice was soothing and expressive and his characters, perfect - just the way I'd imagine them speaking.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance. It might be geared a little bit toward younger listeners - maybe in their 20s, but I'm in my 50s and found it was well-suited for any age. Somewhere the Bells Ring Somewhere in Time, Book 3
